Family, locals stage protests, district admin orders inquiry

SRINAGAR, July 26: The death of a baby in mothers womb due top the alleged negligence of doctors at district hospital Pulwama today triggered strong protests by the family members of the woman and locals. After the incident district administration ordered inquiry into the matter. The incident,
reports said, interestingly also triggered fight between the doctors who accused each other of negligence. During the fight, eyewitnesses and sources in the hospital said, a computer in the hospital laboratory was also damaged. Maisara Jan wife of John Mohammad was taken to hospital twpo days back after she complained of labor pains.
After being examined by the doctors she was suggested to get admitted in the hospital. “After remaining admitted for two days she developed spme serious complicacies late last evening. But none of the doctors was available in the hospoital to attend to her. The Para-medical staff present in the hospital could handle the case resulting into the death of the baby in mothers womb,” said a relative of the woman.
This morning as the news about the incident spread the relatives of the woman joined by locals assembled in the hospital premises and staged strong protests. As the protesters continued protests additional DC Pulwama, rushed to the spot and pacified them. ADC assured the protesting family members and locals of fair probe and strinent action against all those who will be found involved during the inquiry.
ADC Pulwama could not be contacted despite repeated calls. Reports said that after the incident, doctors accused each other of nelience leading to fight between them. “During the fight computer in the hospital laboratory ot damaged after being hit by the fighting doctors,” reports said.
