JAMMU, Jun 10: Vivek Chauhan, Administrator of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu flagged off the 6th batch of Dharamshala Himalayan Trekking Programme comprising 47 students including 16 girls of the school.
Four teachers of the School Jyoti Mahajan, Arvinder Kour, Mohinder Singh and Deepa Thakur also accompanied the students. The group is being led by Sonam Sidharth and Shashi Kant Sharma, trained mountaineers of Tawi Trekkers J&K.
Since this is a very soft trekking programme meant only for budding trekkers in the age group of 10 to 14 years the participants would trek only about 6-7 kms a day during this venture and would cover almost all the scenic, sports, spiritual and historical places around Dharamshala and Macleodganj.
The purpose of this programme is to initiate young boys and girls into outdoor life by offering them a low budget, well organized and properly supervised adventure activity and thus inculcate in them the spirit of adventure and love of nature.
Meanwhile, a group of trekkers of MHAC School, Nagbani has returned back after enjoying the adventure activities at Moungri.
