7 receive burn injuries in Poonch cylinder blast

POONCH, Apr 30: Seven persons, including three minors, Sunday evening received burn injuries in a tragic cylinder blast at Samote village of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district.
Official sources said this evening at around 5.00 PM, a domestic cylinder caught fire and later exploded in the house of Haji Sadiq in which seven persons including three minors were injured.
After hearing the sound of explosion, the neighbours joined by other locals rushed to the spot and rescued the injured. All the injured were immediately rushed to Sub District Hospital Surankote. The injured were identified as Abida Kouser, 20, wife of Mohammed Arshad, Sakina Begum, 45, wife of Mohammed Sadiq, Mohammed Sadiq, 50, son of Khadam Hussain, Nahid Kouser, 25, wife of Showkat Ali, Tohiba, 6, daughter of Showkat Ali, Amroz Ahmed, 5, son of Showkat Ali and Arzoo, 10, daughter of Sikander – all residents of Samote Jogi Morh Bye-pass.
Block Medical Officer Surankote Dr Parvaiz Ahmed Khan told KTNS, “We’re treating all the injured. After first aid, three injured were referred to the Government Medical college Hospital Jammu as they received severe burns.”
Those referred to GMC Hospital Jammu included Abida Kouser, Sakina Begum and Mohammed Sadiq.
