Justified observations of CJI

Dear Editor,
It refers to Chief Justice of India JS Kehar on 07.04.2017 in a seminar in New Delhi expressing very logical opinion for making political parties accountable for their poll-promises. Since political parties make gimmick assurances for votes, election-manifestoes should be given legal status. Election Commission may be empowered to de-recognize parties going against aspects mentioned in their manifestoes. Also there must be a total ban on freebies promised at public-expense in poll-manifestoes.
Second senior-most judge of Supreme Court Justice Deepak Mishra on the occasion rightly observed that candidates should not take polls as some sort of investment. It is a known fact that candidates take polls like a gamble, thereby practically making poll-expenses like some investment. Bitter fact is that politics has been run like some business by certain political families. It is evident from the fact that many political personalities of present era having entered politics without any wealth, have now assets worth hundreds and thousands crores of rupees. Income Tax Department should make a list of 50 top political families of the country, and arrange a special audit for family-members of such political families ever since their first contesting any election to expose money minted by them by running politics like family-business where only family-members become political heirs in political parties.
