Police to organize Soft Skill development training for its personnel: IGP Kashmir

JAMMU, Feb 16: J&K police in collaboration with University of Delhi will be imparting Soft Skill development training for about ten thousand policemen across all districts in the valley.
According to a police handout issued to KNS, the programme will commence from 17th Feb and will end on 21th Feb, wherein 10500 Policemen will be imparted Soft skill development training by 13 teams of experts from the University of Delhi.
The format of the training was discussed today in a meeting between the IGP Kashmir A G Mir and Dr. Pamela Singla Project Coordinator of this comprehensive five days training programme. The meeting was attended by SSP Srinagar Amit Kumar, SP Ganderbal Shahid Mehraj, SP PCR Suhail Munawar, ASP PCR Manoj Panditha besides other senior officers.
Speaking on the occasion the IGP said that in the last 2 decades J&K police as a force has evolved at a fast pace. While the force strength has improved multifold our endeavor has always been to update this force with latest training and skill enhancement to meet the challenges of today’s fast changing world. The Life Skills Enhancement training at all Police District Headquarters of the valley in collaboration with University of Delhi is a part of our continued effort to help our men cope with the fast changing world of today and to equip them to meet the highly evolving expectations of the general public of today. IGP further said that development of Soft Skill for the police personnel for better police-public interface was off long envisaged to be an area where there is immense scope of improvement especially at the cutting edge level of police stations where police-public relations have direct bearing on the quality of the delivery of services. The significance of the developments of Soft Skills among the police personnel was felt during my public interaction meetings while visiting different districts across the valley.
During the forthcoming five days training that will be held from February 17 to 21 , 10500 Policemen will be imparted Life skills enhancement training by 13 teams of experts from the University of Delhi. Project Coordinator Dr. Pamela Singla will oversee 13 teams headed by a facilitator in each Range. The teams will undertake 70 sessions at all the police districts of the valley.
In CKR the teams headed by the facilitator Shewta Verma will hold sessions at College of Education M A Road, District Police Lines, Srinagar besides two teams will impart sessions at District Budgam and Ganderbal. The teams will train 3000 policemen during their sessions.
In SKR, the teams headed by facilitator Iqbal Bhat will be holding training sessions in District Anantnag, Pulwama, Awantipora, Shopian and Kulgam imparting trainings to 3750 police personnel.
In NKR the teams headed by facilitator Dr. Kaivalya T Desai will undertake sessions for Soft skills in the Districts of Baramulla, Sopore, Kupwara, Handwara and Bandipora wherein 3750 policemen will be trained.
The expert team had extensive orientation training in Delhi for a week in which senior officers of Kashmir Police had also participated to make them aware of the working environment in Kashmir.
