POONCH, Feb 25: In a major breakthrough, one Live AK-47 cartridge and a Compact Disc (CD) were seized from two Pakistani visitors who arrived at Chakan-Da-Bagh in weekly bus service, here today. They came here to meet their relatives living at Manjakote and Mendhar area while 56 persons exchanged sides today.
Official sources said that alert security sleuths recovered a live AK-47 round bearing number 9141 from the pocket of an elderly PAK national Ghulam Hassan (Permit number 50429), 75, son of Hasan Mohammad resident of Pir Zalal (PAK). A CD was recovered from Fateh Mohammad (Permit number 7652) son of Bir Bali, resident of Rawalpindi.
Security sleuths immediately seized AK round and CD and grilled them to ascertain the reason for carrying these items with them. During investigation, 75-year-old Ghulam Hassan told security officers that he did not know how the bullet came in his pocket. He believed that his grandson dropped this bullet in his pocket. He was totally ignorant and requested officers to allow him to meet his relatives. While Fateh Mohammad accepted that he brought this CD with him and he did not know that carrying of any kind of CD is banned. He apologized from the officers.
After examining the whole issue and discussing with their senior officers and keeping in view the age of Ghulam Hassan Indian officials decided to deport him to PAK on humanitarian grounds. The officers contacted their PAK counterparts who said that they checked each and every person and there was no possibility of recovery of live AK bullet PAK national. When Indian officers informed them of decision to deport Ghulam Hassan tomorrow, they said employees of their Emigration department left his home and it was impossible for them to accept Ghulam Hassan.
Indian officers then handed over Ghulam Hassan to Police Station Poonch and also handed over AK 47 round. If the sources are to be believed Indian officials did not lodge a FIR and were planning to deport him tomorrow. The CD seized from another visitor was also handed over to police.
