7 killed in road accidents

BANIHAL, June 17: Seven people including two women were killed in two different road accidents on national highway in Ramban district, late last night. The first accident took place at Khooni Nallah when a truck bearing registration number JKO1H-6412 coming from Jammu to Srinagar rolled down into 400 ft deep gorge (Nallah Bichlari) resulting in on the spot death of all five passengers including the driver of ill fated truck and a lady. The accident is believed to have happened during late night hours. On receiving the information the Ramban police headed by SHO Ramban reached the spot and started rescue operation at about 4:30 AM. All the dead bodies were shifted to District Hospital, Ramban.

The dead have been identified as driver Mohammad Iqbal, son of Allah Rakha resident of Nagrota, Jammu, Nageena Banu daughter of Mohammad Qasim resident of Tanta, Reasi and her brother Farooq Ahmed Amir Husain son of Ghullam Mustafa resident of Qazigund.

In another accident, husband and wife were killed when a Tata Indica bearing registration number JKO1N -3949 which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar rolled down into 300 feet deep gorge (Nallah Bichlari). The accident took place at 3 AM. The dead have been identified as Abdul Majeed son of Wali Mohammad and his wife Saleema Bagum resident of Tulsi Bagh Srinagar. Banihal police has brought the dead bodies to District Hospital, Banihal.
