Civilian injured in Pak shelling in Poonch

POONCH, Feb 22: A civilian was injured when Pakistan army for the second consecutive day resorted to unprovoked shelling targetting forward Indian border posts and the villages on the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar sector of Poonch district on Saturday.
An army official said, “Pakistani army violated ceasefire by resorting to unprovoked fire on Indian posts and civilian population in Degwar sector. They firstly opened fire with small weapons yet later used mortar shells on Indian army’s posts. Indian jawans manning the border posts responded strongly with equal calibre.”
“This evening at around 5.15 PM, Pakistani army violated ceasefire forcing us to retaliate. Pakistani army used heavy weapons and used mortar shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in Degwar sector in Poonch district in which a civilian was seriously injured,” he added.
SSP Poonch Ramesh Kumar Angral, too, confirmed ceasefire violation. He said, “Indian army was retaliating and giving a befitting reply to the enemy.”
