Sunshine greets people after day of rough weather

SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Sunshine greeted people today here after days of cloudy and rough weather.
As the weather conditions improved today after recent snowfall and earlier dense fog for a week, sunshine greeted the people. This also raised the day temperature and the life seemed back on track.
Kashmir witnessed the second major snowfall of the season during the intervening night of December 12 and 13 and till afternoon of December 13 throwing the life out of gear. Kashmir was cut off by road and air from rest of the world.
Prior to snowfall the Valley was hit by dense fog which affected the normal life. The fog disrupted air traffic for a week. Neither any flight landed nor could take off from the airport during the seven days.
The vehicular traffic movement on Srinagar-Leh and Mughal Road got suspended due to snowfall. The first snowfall of the season in the first week of November had also hit badly the road and traffic communication. Even the electricity supply was hit.
This time the power supply was restored immediacy in urban areas as the intensity of second snowfall was not like that of the first snowfall.
The air traffic resumed yesterday after a week and flights operated as per schedule today because of good visibility and clear weather.
According to weather department the weather conditions are likely to improve further but night temperature can decrease further.
