Do Not Distance Yourself With Angry Words..!

For many years it was just marshy land, but the government reclaimed the place, and turned it into a scenic stretch. Nobody disturbs the couples who sit together, holding hands, talking in whispers.
Last week as I passed by, I heard a lovers tiff, a young man and women screaming and shouting at each other.
The crowd seemed to be enjoying the free entertainment, but in my mind's eye I noticed an old man walking right up to the couple, "Why do you shout in anger?" he asked gently, "Why do you have to shout at each other when you are upset?"
"Because they've lost their calm," said someone from the crowd.
"But, why do you have to shout when the other person is just next to you?' asked the old man. "Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you're angry?"
"Why?" asked the girl looking puzzled.
The old man looked at her and smiled, and in his eyes, I saw understanding "When two people are angry with each other, their hearts distance themselves. To cover that distance, they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other across that great distance they've created!"
"But," continued the old man, "look at the other couples around. All of them so much in love with each other: They talk softly, because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small!"
I saw the couple look at each other then up at the old man who continued, "When a couple love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, they only whisper and when they get even closer to each other in their love they don't even need to whisper, they only need to look at each other, that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other!"
I saw the crowd nodding, and edged closer to the old man as he looked at the young couple and said, "Children, when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, do not say words that separate you both, else there will come a day when those words will make the distance so great you will not find the path to return!"
The couple nodded. It was a silent crowd that walked away and left them alone. I saw the lovers looking into each other's eyes, not needing words anymore to express their love. Their hearts were close again. The old man who had appeared in my imagination disappeared, but I liked to think his gentle, wise words on love remained and added to the magic and enchantment that was all around!
Don't let your words make your hearts distance themselves when you are angry…!
