The demon is back
Kashmir needs Life Security Bill……
By Ameen Fayaz
The Demon is back. This time it strikes at Gool Gulabgarh, Ramban, eats four and injures scores at Gool and then resurfaced across the valley when protests erupted against the killings. Surprisingly, this time the demon did not take much time to return. The blood of two innocent youth from Markundal, Hajin was still fresh on its teeth. It shows that hunger and thirst for more and more blood in the demon of oppression is increasing day by day and it has got its own ways and patterns to kill, maim and maraud the oppressed people across Jammu & Kashmir.

The mountains of Kashmir echo when the demon has its date with the people living here. It comes unannounced and strikes where people have never expected that it can reach there. Generally, it would take lives of people at such places where militants would operate but off late the pattern has changed. It would go to a hamlet like Markundal and kill at will two innocent youths and then straightaway to Gool where it would first intervene in the religious affairs of the minority community, beat the Imam of the Masjid to pulp, reportedly desecrate the Holy Book of Muslims and thus provoke its objects to come on streets for an open scuffle where it could use its muscle and fire power to the blood and flesh of as many people as possible.

The tweeting "Chief Minister" would as usual tweet "Unacceptable", "This cannot be tolerated", "This should have not rather happened", "Inquiry shall be conducted" and then promises of probe, exgratia and relief and jobs to the affected families.

The billion dollar question that every protesting Kashmiri asks the chief minister is: Where is the security of Kashmiri people? Why day in and day out trigger happy armed forces kill Kashmiri Muslims? Why Kashmiris are not safe on their own soil? Why they are asked to show and I-Card on their own soil? To nobody's surprise, the chief minister does not have answers to all these questions as he is proving himself loyal to his masters and is trying his best to not allow his chair slip away from the hands of Sheikh family. Therefore, he hardly bothers about the insecurity and lawlessness that prevails in Kashmir thanks to the beasts of colonialism that are here in enough number as compared to the native population.

His Car and Muslim puppies…

Well, there is no doubt about this fact now that Narendra Modi is going to be the next prime minister candidate of the BJP with the overwhelming support that he enjoys in the RSS brigade and other communal parties of the parivar. India and Indians shall have to think about him seriously before voting for him as he is the man who has brought shame to the name of democracy and secularism in the recent past. In fact, his being the chief minister of Gujrat after the massacre of Muslims in the Janam Bhoomi of Gandhiji is also a blot on the judicial system of India as the law of the country should have stopped him from rising to the seat and instead showed him the doors of jails where the worst criminals are put in. But then this argument boils down to this fact that in a country like India where the will of the majority prevails Narendra Modi could not be punished for the crimes he committed as there are corporate companies like the Tatas, the Ambanis, etc. who think that the industrial prowess of India and its corporate reins must come in the hands of man who worships iron and would unroll more and more cars on the roads of India so that puppies and dogs could be wiped out in a highly corporatised India that is the dream of these business tycoons and also of Narendra Modi.

All the best for India and Good Luck for the minorities who of course can use their vote to keep this big demon away from Delhi as otherwise the remnants of secularism and democracy in India will be torn into pieces and what would prevail is iron-worship and demon-worship followed by much bloodshed and massacres of innocent people across the country.

By the way, Modi must have felt happy to hear that his jawans have opened fire at Gool on the Muslims who were protesting against the desecration of their holy book and were demanding action against the erring officers of the BSF and the police. Saffronised jawans in the Indian forces must give him a sadistic pleasure and through saffronisation of police, army and the BSF alone could it be possible for him to unleash a reign of saffron terror on the minorities who time and again are given choices like: "Either go to Pakistan or be ready for Qabristan."

Action and Reaction

Earlier in Kashmir, militants would act and armed troopers would react. But off late, the trend has changed. The troopers come, pick up somebody, beat him or simply come and indulge in shooting spree leaving innocent civilians dead thus provoking civilians to react through stone pelting and peaceful protests. This behaviour of armed troopers shows a psychological problem that has developed in them as a result of their long stationing in Kashmir. They are away from their families for longer periods as compared to the normal conditions. They are indoctrinated with imaginary biases (mostly communal) against the enemy they are going to fight with in order to raise their motivational level. Such mind sets in common men in uniform creates a psychological condition which provokes them time and again to behave in a highly unprofessional manner like they did at Markundal, Pathribal, Machil and now in Gool.

What do Kashmiris want?

Kashmiris do not want projects like the Udaan and the Himayat, for which Rahul Gandhi would come to Kashmir or the Police Bill and the Food Security Bill, brain child of Ms Sonia Gandhi. Nor do Kashmiris want Facebook, lifiting of SMS ban, etc. as proposed of Justin Podur in his article published some time back in the Kashmir Times titled "Eleven Things India Must do in Kashmir." Because in all these sectors, the state first creates a situation in Kashmir and then creates a fearful debate on across the world. In all other states of India, there is no problem of gas while in Kashmir, a crisis is manufactured to construct a debate on it so that the world may come to associate the basic aspirations of Kashmiris with the demand for LPG gas, SIM cards, SMS ban or for the matter with economic development and jobs for youths. Now this manufactured crisis has reached to supply of sugar also and hopefully in a few days the world will be shown that Kashmiris actually protest for sugar and not for Azadi and freedom from oppression. These are all colonial tactics whereby India actually not only pricks the honour consciousness of Kashmiris but also tries to impose on them a manufactured "Dependence Complex" so that Indian rule and authority in Kashmir could be strengthened and their will writ large all around.

To all Indian administrators, Kashmiris say "We want Right to self-determination", "We want our lost history", " We want what we were in the past before you forcibly came on us," "Give us back what you deny to us….Azadi." This is very much clear in Kashmir, from their protests and also from their collective aspirations as has been proved time and again.
