Darnambal, Rising Star sail to semifinals
Sopore T-20 Cricket Competition
JAMMU, July 20: Darnambal and Rising Star cruise to the semi-finals knocking out Ashraf Sports and Seer Sports in the ongoing Sopore T20 Cricket Contest organized by J&K Police at Khushal Sports Stadium in Sopore.

In the first match, PCC Darnambal set a modest target of 110 before Ashraf Sports. However Ashraf Sports could not withstand the bowling of Darnambal bowlers and were bundled out for paltry 50 runs losing the match by 59 runs. Abdul Hamid of PCC Darnambal was declared as man of the match for his excellent bowling. He clinched 4 wickets for 12 runs.

In the 2nd match of the day, Rising Star cruised to a comfortable 9 wicket victory over Seer Sports. After batting first, Seer Sports managed 109/6 in the stipulated overs. The target proved to be easy for the Rising Star batsmen as the team chased the score in just 12.5 overs losing just one wicket. For a constructive 48 not out, Tariq Ahmad of the winning side walked away with the Man of the Match award.

The contest has been organized by Sopore Police in which 56 teams are participating. With the today’s quarter finals a total of 52 matches have been played so far in the contest. The four semi finalists’ viz., Sopore Sports, Syndicate, Darnambal and Rising Star will take on each other in the semi finals to be played after Eid-Ul-Fitr. Nissar Ahmad @Idrees will continue to grace the contest with his articulate commentary.
