FDP-cum-Textual Workshop on Advaita Vedanta Inaugurated at SMVDU

JAMMU, May 21: A Ten-Day FDP-cum-Textual Workshop on Advaita Vedanta organized by the School of Philosophy and Culture (SOPC) in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi was inaugurated at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU).
The inaugural session started with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) D. Mukhopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor SMVDU, Guest of Honour Prof VK Bhat, Registrar, SMVDU, Resource Persons Prof. VN Jha and Prof. UjjawalaJha, Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Deputy Secretary, IGNCA, New Delhi and Dr. Anil Kumar Tewari, Head, SOPC.
After the floral welcome and felicitation of the dignitaries, Dr. Tewari delivered the welcome address. Prof. VN Jha, a renowned scholar and resource person of the workshop, addressed the audience Prof. Jha emphasized the need for acquainting the younger generation with the Indian intellectual heritage. He stated that the whole Indian thinking aims at transforming human consciousness.
Prof VK Bhat, in his address, urged the participants to learn as much as possible by interacting with the resource persons. Bharat Bhushan Sharma and Dr. Abhijit Dixit informed the audience about the activities of IGNCA, New Delhi. In the last, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Mukhopadhyay delivered his speech in which he described Advaita Vedanta as the nucleus of Indian thinking.
In this Ten-Day Textual workshop, many faculties and research scholars across the country are participating which will cover the Vedantasangrah written by BellamkondaRamraya. The textual workshop is generously funded by IGNCA, New Delhi. The inaugural session was attended by Dr. Saurabh, Head, School of Business, Dr. Ashoka Kumar Tarai, Assistant Professor, SOPC, SumantaSarathi Sharma, Assistant Professor, SOPC, Mr. Anil Bharadwaj, Assistant Professor, SoECE among others. The inaugural session ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. MadhuMangalChaturvedi, Assistant Professor, SOPC.
