AHD Kishtwar organisea Awareness cum Infertility Camps

KISHTWAR, May 21: In continuation to the general awareness campaign under FMD-CP (Foot & Mouth Disease Control Programme) lInd phase and infertility, Department of Animal Husbandry, Kishtwar organised two camps one at Village Keeru and the second one at village Pathernaki of Block Nagseni.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer (CAHO), Kishtwar Dr. Daljeet Singh Bindra was the main campaigner of the event besides Dr. Akhter Hussain VAS TU Kishtwar and staff of the concerned centres remained present during the programme.
During the camp at village Kerru, about 25-30 animals were examined/treated for infertility and allied problems. Besides, on spot free medicines, dewormers, mineral mixures and other feed additives were provided to the farmers by the Department and VIRBAC- multinational company.
Pre vaccination Blood sampling for FMD-CP was also done for sero-surveillance. Meanwhile, during the camp at Patharnaki, a large number of farmers brought their livestock at the centre and about more than 40 animals were examined and the mineral mixture, calcium supplements, dosing etc. were distributed free of cost provided by the Department & VIRBAC- multinational company.
In addition to that Veterinary Advices were also imparted to the general public.
The Main attraction of the event was the presence of female Yaks (Hybrid which is well adjusted with the local conditions.
The blood samples for FMD-CP were also collected from the livestock.
While addressing the participants, CAHO Kishtwar suggested the local public to adopt Artificial Insemination for upgradation/crossbreeding of the local cattle population as the Department has recently extended the A.l. facilities at the Centre for increasing the milk production of the area.
The public was also informed about the new welfare schemes of the department particularly FMD-CP, Kissan credit Card benefits, Cattle Insurance facility which have been introduced by the Department for both APL as well as BPL farmers.
The Public representatives and general public of the area appreciated the efforts of the Department and wished to organize such camps in other adjoining areas also.
