Chanchik Archers lifts 7th Harka Bahadur Archery Cup

KARGIL, Apr 21: The 7th Harka BHadur Memorial Archery Competition was won by Chanchik Archers by defeating L G Biamathang by 5 points.
The competition was organised in remembrance of 20th years of Kargil Vijay Diwas organised by the Army in conjunction with the Social and Welfare Education Society, Kargil and the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Kargil.
Six teams comprising of 15 players each participated in the tournament which was organised at Army Goodwill School Harka Bhadur Kharul Kargil.
Traditionally, Archery has been one of the most popular sport in the Ladakh and Kargil Regions. To keep alive this rich culture and tradition, as also to commemorate the sacrifice of our Martyrs, the Harka Bahadur Memorial Archery Competition was instituted in 2013.
After distributing prizes and trophies to The winners and the participants, Brigade Commander of the Kargil Sentinels Brigade, encouraged them to keep up their enthusiasm for the sport, as also continue to live by their rich heritage and culture. He brought out that the Army has always encouraged local talent in every field, and will continue to do so.
Such initiatives by the Army in Kargil Region have greatly contributed towards fostering and strengthening bonds with the local populace, who have always taken pride in the fact that they have stood side by side with the Army in every war, including during Operation Vijay.
