Show same spirit in coming BDC, ULB elections: Saroori

JAMMU, Dec 7: “The leaders and workers have to work hard and remains closely associated with each other and with the common people in every area and at all levels. Workers have to show the same spirit and determination in the coming BDC and Urban Local bodies’ elections which will be conducted soon,” stated this while addressing the workers meeting held.

According to a statement, a meeting of Congress party was held at Senior Congress leader and Inderwal MLA G M Saroori residence to congratulate for receiving highest percentage votes to coalition candidates in MLC polls from his Assembly. They also lauded Panchayat members for reposing faith in the candidates of the ruling coalition in the state.

Saroori said, “Azad was regularly in touch with party workers to ensure victory of coalition candidates. It is the effort which the ruling coalition had been vigorously campaigning among the Panchs and Sarpanchs. In this Legislative Council election, the party workers had worked hard due to their effort Congress-National Conference who bagged all the four seats of Legislative Council under Panchayat quota. It was victory of the coalition after a gap of nearly 38 years.”

Referring the efforts of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for ensuring the victory, Saroori said that due to Parliament session Azad is not able to campaign but regularly in touch with the party workers for ensuring the victory of Coalition candidates. He also hailed the statement of Azad for implementing 73rd Amendment which was given by late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi which stands testimony for its commitment to Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Reiterating that the coalition government was committed to establish a vibrant three-tier Panchayati Raj System in the state, Saroori assured maximum empowerment of Panchayat members.

Those who present on the occasion included Ex Chairman LC Arvind Singh Micky, MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLA Chenani Krishan Chand, MLC Mohammad Amin Butt, MLC Naresh Kumar, MLC Subash Gupta, Kishtwar Auqaf Islamia Secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Hap, Sarpanchs including Payaray Lal Sharma, Mohammad Shafi Saroori, Surjeet Singh Charak and others.
