PDD infra-structure needs upgrade
Poor planning and implementation leading to frequent break down of systems
ActIT Jammu, Projects, Java,, C# Training Jammu
Unscheduled power curtailment resorted to by the Power Development Department (PDD) is a result of not only short supply of energy from the northern grid but also due to absence of upgradation of the infra-structure. Unfortunately, the system constraints are forwarded as a reason for the power short supply to consumers by the government agencies. The question arises what are the system constraints when upgrading of the entire infra-structure is needed in the state which has not been done over the past many years. The systematic upgradation has been the deadline in the past due to lackadaisical attitude of the PDD engineers. More than a decade back, the grid around Jammu and Srinagar cities was planned but it has been delayed for the reasons best known to the government. An amount of money was also decided by the PDD for this purpose but the work on the project has been delayed due to lack of funds. The common masses who are the end users of energy are not at fault. It is a universal principle that energy needs of the people are increasing every year due to modernization and introduction of new electronic gadgets in the market which not only add to the efficiency of the working class but also are energy efficient. These additions are taking place at a high speed so that expansion and upgradation of power supply structure is also required after every few years. Since the PDD planners are missing deadlines, the slow implementation of the projects is leading to break down of the system. The PDD engineers have to keep pace with the rising needs of energy of the people and create infra-structure so that the common masses are not put to inconvenience for no fault of theirs.
