Sreesanth brings a ray of hope for two others

MUMBAI, Mar 17: Supreme Court's verdict of revoking life ban on pace bowler S. Sreesanth has raised a ray of hope for two other Rajasthan Royals players-Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan.
All these three players were arrested in the spot-fixing scandal that rocked the IPL in 2013. Subsequently, they were life-banned by the Indian cricket board for almost the same offence.
Speaking exclusively over telephone from Delhi, Ajit Chandila said, "it (lifting of ban on Sreesanth) is a good news for us also. We were waiting for this day and our ban will now also be overturned".
"Yes, I did meet Sreesanth here (Delhi) before he left (possibly for Mumbai). We are waiting for the copy of the judgement. Once I get the copy of the letter, will write to the Indian cricket board to remove ban on me".
"I did not fight my case with the BCCI for the simple reason that we all were banned together and decision on one player is fair enough for both of us".
"I am also advised by my lawyer that my ban can be removed by simply writing a letter to the board. I need not file a fresh case against the Board".
"We also hope to be free now. After having served more than five years, the board can not punish us more. Even Ajay Jadeja, Nikhil Chopra and few others were not banned longer than this".
Ajit Chandila confirmed having spoken to Ankeet Chavan about the development.
Ankeet Chavan did not receive call from the Reporter, however, his father, Anil Chavan said, "I don't want to comment at this stage on this development but would like to wait for two more months when the final decision on Sreesanth would be announced".
Sreesanth's wife, Bhuvaneshwari, speaking exclusively said, "my husband has suffered a lot in this period. We hope no more punishment is slapped on him now".
"He is determined to play again but his selection depends on how much opportunity he gets. He is fit enough to play".
