Gurjant of Punjab lifts 119Th Panthal Kesari title 2019

JAMMU, Jan 15: Wrestler Gurjant of Amritsar in Punjab lifted “119 annual Panthal Kesari 2019” Title by defeating Wrestler Rohit of BSF of Chandigarh in a neck to neck contest at Village Panthal in District Reasi.
Gurjant was adjudged as the best wrestler in the Vishal Dangal. Dangal was organized by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Wrestling Association on the eve of Makar Sakranti.
The winner of 1st malli bout wrestler Gurjant was given a cash prize of Rs. 21,000 in additional to “Gurj (Gadda) and Patta” by SDPO Katra Vivek Sheikhar, President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma, Surinder Bhagat.
Social worker and Congress Leader Surinder Bhagat was the chief Guest on the occasion who gave away cash prizes to the winner and runner-up wrestlers. Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra Shiv kumar Sharma presided over the function. SDPO Katra Vivek Sheikhar, SHO Katra Surinder Singh Sambyal and Naib Tehsildar Panthal KK Sharma were guest of honour.
In the said Dangal 39 bouts were played and an expenditure of Rs. 3,11,000 has been incurred for conduct of this one day long wrestling competition. 2nd main bout was won by wrestler Baboo of Bhabae Wali in Punjab who defeated wrestler Gurpreet of Zirakpur (Chandigarh), Pattha R.S Kundu, Wrestling coach. Winner Baloo was cash awarded with Rs. 17,000 and runner-up wrestler Gurpreet got Rs. 14,000.
The third bout was won by Babba of Kot Bhawal, Akhara Domana who defeated Vikas of Bahadurgarh (Haryana). Winner wrestler Baba was cash awarded with Rs. 11,000- while runner-up wrestler Vikas got Rs. 10,000.
The fourth bout was won by Ajay Sharma of Udhampur who defeated Vikas of Zirkapur (Chandigarh. Winner Wrestler Ajay Sharma got Rs. 10,000/- while runner-up wrestler Vikas got Rs. 8,000/-. 5th bout was won by Gurmail of BSF (Chandigarh) who defeated Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police and 6th bout was won by Roshan Lal Sharma of J&K Police who defeated Amit of Bahadurgarh.
Members and Technical officials who helped smooth conduct of this Dangal included Pritam Kumar Magotra (President), Mukesh Khajuria, Sarpanch Rajinder Kumar Thappa, Parsotam Kumar Khajuria (Bittu), Parsotam Mengi, Mohan Lal Sanmotra, Ved Parkash, Om Parkash Sanmotra, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Ram Paul Sharma, Sat Paul Verma, Om Parkash Verma, Lochan Singh, Deepak Wazir, Tulinder Kumar, Sunny (Airtel) and Laikat Ali.
Shiv Kumar Sharma thanked the police Department, Media and People who witnessed the Vishal Dangal, he appreciated the bouts and organizers, technical officials. He assured that our association will give every possible help for the development and promotion of wrestling in the State.
The proceeding of the Dangal were conducted by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) and Lochan Singh while welcome address by presented by Mukesh Khajuria. The vote of thanks presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma.
