SC on sealing: No law in order

Kashmir Times. Dated: 10/20/2018 2:19:28 PM

Dear Editor,
In the matter of sealing drive of unauthorised constructions in Delhi, just few days back, the Supreme Court said that “Everybody has taken the law in their own hands,” Many times unauthorized buildings collapse resulting in killing of few people apart from financial losses. It is unfortunate that on elections as vote bank politics many of unauthorized colonies are regularized proving disastrous results in the long run. In fact, a good number of colonies in Delhi have grown like it. Question is why unauthorized construction/ colonies are regularized?
In most DDA flats additional construction is made with the knives of government officials via touts and builders etc. Without paying bribe such an activity is just not possible. The principle in India is “Pay and get the work done”. Unless there is some accountability and responsibility and strict action is taken against corrupt officers there shall be no end to these fatal mishap / tragedies of falling of illegal buildings/ structures.
Also, the faulty planning needs corrective actions for good health of citizens at large as at present there is no room for fresh air to ventilate and sun light to enter the rooms in houses, the ventilators-roshandaans-much required for it have vanished from all constructions of office/ residential buildings on commercial grounds. Windows are inadequate. In case of fire/ emergencies there is no second exit. Even government agencies / public sector big branded companies of constructions are no exceptions on planning and constructing buildings.
The vote bank politics is in forefront at the cost of safety and good health of aam aadmi.
All the illegal constructions must be demolished all over the country.
