Mystery shrouds firing incident
JAMMU, Oct 2: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was injured by a bullet under mysterious circumstances at a forward Border out Post (BOP) along Indo-Pak border in Samba sector today.
Sepoy Ramesh Chate, son of Karwari Chate of Maharashtra of 9th battalion of BSF was injured when the bullet hit him at Khora BoP along International Border (IB) in Samba sector this evening at 5.30 PM, official sources said.
Sources added that investigation is on find out if the jawan was injured in clashes between jawans, accidental firing or suicide attempt.
However, another reports suggested that the jawan was injured in a sniper shot fired from across the IB.
The injured jawan was evacuated to District Hospital Samba from where he was referred to the GMC hospital for advanced treatment.
It is notable to mention here that Kulwant Singh, Special Police Officer (SPO) and his wife Krishna Devi were seriously injured in Pakistan firing at Chechwal in Samba district when they were working in their fields yesterday.
The Divisional Commissioner along with DIG Jammu Tuesday visited Government Medical College hospital here and inquired about the condition of couple injured in Pakistan firing in Samba district yesterday.
DC Pardeep Gupta, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu, JP Singh and Principal GMC Dr Aniece Chowdhary inquired about the condition of the injured and also interacted with their relatives.
Gupta also appreciated the courage of border residents who shifted victims amid firing to the hospital for treatment.
The DC announced Rs 10,000 relief to each injured from Red Cross.
