Ajit Club faces Singh Club in hockey final

JAMMU, Nov 23: Ajit Club Gole Gujral shall be playing against host Singh Club Bandhu Rakh in the final of the Ajaypal Singh Hockey Tournament at Army ground, Bandhu Rakh in the city outskirts here on November 25.

In the semifinals, played today, Ajit Club defeated Hiranagar Club 5-2. Amrinder Singh (19th and 22nd) and Manpreet Singh (5th and 54th) helped Ajit Club make it an impressive win on way to the final. Earlier, Devinder opened the account for Ajit Club sounding the board in the sixth minute.

From Hiranagar, Abhinandan and Rajinder were the scorers, who netted the ball in the ninth and 18th minute of the match.

However, in other semifinal of the day, Singh Club underwent a lot of struggle before clinching a 6-5 win from Guru Nanak Club, Nagar Nagar in the tie-breaker. In the stipulated time the match ended in a 2-2 draw. Agandeep Singh (20th and 50th) scored from Singh Club while Joginder (26th) and Iqbal Singh (48th PC) were the scorers from Guru Nanak Club.

Later, in the tie-breaker, Jagjeet, Rakesh Choudhary, Amritpal and Manjeet were the scorers. From Guru Nanak Club, Ranveet Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Amarjeet Singh were successful strikers.

Today's semifinals were officiated by the penal of technical officials including Charanjeet Singh, Iqbal Singh, Dalbir Mehta, Daljeet Singh, GS Bakshi, MS Reen, Satbir Singh, Karanjit Singh, Kawaljeet Singh and Jaswant Singh.
