Expedition team of indian army scales Uumasila pass

JAMMU, Sep 10: An Indian Army team from Ramban Dist as part of Adventure activities to promote physical courage, determination & Sportsmanship Spirit, conducted a Trekking expedition to Umasila pass at an altitude of (17486ft).

The expedition was flagged off from Machail on 25 Aug 18. Team comprising of One officer, One Junior Commissioned officer & ten other ranks participated in the trek & covered the adventurous route of Machail, Sumchum, Ruwa, Pullu, Umasila & Padum Gumpa, covering a total distance of 157 Km over nine days period.

The expedition was the ultimate test for the team, pitting them against the most unpredictable and challenging high altitude weather conditions and terrain while testing their mental & physical stamina at each stage. The team successfully completed the expedition at Padum Gumpa on 05 Sep 18 and was flagged in at Dharmund Military Garrison by Lt Gen Saranjeet Singh, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps on 10 Sep 2018.

The event promoted a cultural bond between Chenab and Padam Valley and also spread the qualities of camaraderie, spirit of adventure and preservation of environment. Speaking on the occasion, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps complemented the trekkers for successfully scaling the difficult heights.
