DC declares open Volleyball, Kho-Kho tourney at Gool

RAMBAN. Sep 7: With an aim to boost sports culture amongst the youth, District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, today declared open under 17 Boys Volleyball and under 14 Girls Kho Kho tournament at Government Higher Secondary School(GHHS) Gool under Khelo India "Sports for Peace and Development" a integrated youth engagement programme.
In Volleyball match Gool A team won by defeating Gool B team and in Kho Kho competition Girls High School Gool team won by defeating GHHS team by 4 points.
Speaking on the occasion DDC applauded the students for their efforts and encouraged them to make the best use of such a platform to display their sporting talent and also laid emphasis on the importance of games and sports for their overall development. He advised the youth to take part in the sports activities so that they can prove their mettle in State and national level sports.
He said that the Khelo India scheme is launched with an objective to involve youth in sports activities so that they can channelize their energy in right directions.
He asked the students to use sports as a tool to prevent their self from crime and drug use for contributing to build a powerful nation in the terms of economically, socially, healthy and strategically.
He assured the participants that he would utilize his resources for providing more better facilities . He announced table tennis alongwith accessories for GHHS Gool.
