Rains provide relief from humid weather conditions

SRINAGAR, SEP 7: Kashmir valley witnessed pleasant weather on Friday as light rainfall occurred at several places on Friday and Thursday providing a respite from humid weather conditions of past two months.
Rainfall occurred at most places across the state including Kashmir division and the most of the hilly regions.
The officials at state meteorological department revealed that light to moderate rainfall was witnessed in Kashmir including Srinagar since Thursday afternoon.
They said the maximum temperature plunged several notches at most of the places in valley on Friday though the weather remained humid early in the day.
Pertinently, the pleasant weather along with drizzle and many places has provided a respite from continued scorching and humid weather conditions prevalent in valley during past few months.
The spokesperson at met department said there were chances of more precipitation in the state during next 24 hours.
He said the maximum temperature recorded in valley on Thursday was 29.6 degrees Celsius which was 1.1 degrees Celsius above normal.
Met officials revealed that Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 22 degrees Celsius on Friday.
" There was a considerable drop in day temperature at several places across valley, including Srinagar, on Friday. The tourist resort of Pahalgam recorded a maximum temperature of 9 degrees and a minimum temperature of 5 degrees on Friday," spokesperson at met department said.
While Kashmir valley witnessed abrupt rise in day temperature in the month of August . The hot and humid conditions prevailed during last two months.
The met officials said that the temperature in Ladakh division also witnessed a rise in the month of July.
The met officials said that heavy rainfall was witnessed in Jammu division of the state also.
Officials said that maximum temperature in Jammu region settled at 33.6 degrees Celsius on Friday.
Meanwhile, the metrleorolgical department has predicted light rainfall in Kashmir valley during next 24 hours.
"Light rainfall may occur at most of the places across the valley during next 24 hours. The precipitation may cause further drop in temperature at several places," spokesperson at met department said.
