Grenade attack at security camp

SRINAGAR, Sep 7: Suspected militants today lobbed a hand grenade on paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bhal (SSB) camp at Mehjoor Nagar area here that missed the target and exploded near the camp.
Officials said unknown persons presumably militants hurled a hand grenade at 14Bn D Coy SSB camp at Mehjoor Nagar Bund this afternoon, however no loss of life or injury was reported.
The incident that occurred at around 3pm in the day created total chaos and confusion in the area.
They said the grenade which was aimed at targeting SSB camp missed the target and exploded on the road.
"The grenade blast did not hit any personnel present in the camp which is surrounded by the residential area,” officials added.
Meanwhile a joint team of paramilitary forces and local police cordoned off the area and launched search operation to nab the assailants, however no one was reportedly arrested and the cordon was later off.
However no militant outfit claimed the responsibility of the grenade attack on SSB camp at Mehjoor Nagar area till the reports last came in.
