Bovines smuggling bids foiled, 21 cattle rescued, 3 arrested

JAMMU, Aug 9: Nagrota Police under ‘Operation Kamdhenu' foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 21 cattle and arresting three persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka near Khanpur and signaled a Srinagar bound truck bearing registration number PB06M-8698 to stop for checking. On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape, but the cops intercepted the truck after a brief chase.
During checking, police rescued 17 cattle from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Gafoor Mohammad, son of Hanief Mohammad, a resident of District Chamba Himachal Pradesh and Shakil Ahmed, son of Mohammad Sawaru, a resident of Talwara, District Reasi.
Meanwhile, on reliable information, a team from Nagrota Police Station laid a naka at Panjgrain and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK14B-0421. During frisking, police rescued 4 cattle from the vehicle and arrested a bovines' smuggler, who has been identified as Rafaqat Hussain Boked, son of Sardar Boked, a resident of Tehsil Kokernag, District Anantnag.
Cases under FIR Numbers 186/18 and 187/18 under Sections 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act have been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started. Police team led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by SgCt Shafqat Hussain, SgCt Kartar Singh and Constable Neem Shahjad made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh Slathia, SP Rural Dushyant Sharma and SSP Jammu Vivek Gupta.
