Inter School tourney for girls gets underway
JAMMU, Aug 9: Inter School District Level Tournament for Girls U-19 yrs in the sports discipline of Speed ball, Thai Boxing, Belt Wrestling and Thang-sa-do for the year 2018-19 of District Jammu gets underway today here at Indoor Complex M.A stadium Jammu.

In all 80 Girls are drawn across from 14 Zones of Jammu District are taking part in the competitions.

The competitions are being organised by Department of Youth Services & Sports under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad , Director General, Youth Services & Sports and under the overall supervision of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu. While Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organising Secretary of the said tournament.

While addressing on Opening ceremony in presence of all the ZPEO’s, concerned officials of Jammu District, Chanchal Kour DYSSO Jammu encouraged the participants to play with full enthusiasm and spirit.

The main objective of the competitions is to select the teams of Jammu District for the next level of competitions i.e Inter District, Division Level Competitions.

The details : Speed ball Girls U-19 yrs: Single: Janvi Sharma of SD Tara Puri Jammu. Komal Devi of Lord Shiva Day Boarding School andJanvi Gupta of May Fair HSS Jammu.

Double: Mansi Slathia and Arya Gupta of Govt HSS Shastri Nagar and Pooja and Anamika of May Fair HSS Jammu.

Solo: Janvi Gupta of May Fair HSS Jammu. Komal Devi of Lord Shiva Day Boarding School and Arya Gupta of Govt. HSS. Shastri Nagar.

Relay Team: Lord Shiva Day Boarding School Jammu (Winner) Komal Devi, Sunidhi Choudhary, Lakshmi Devi and Janvi Manhas. May Fair HSS Jammu (Runner’s Up): Janvi Gupta, Aemi Sharma, Anamika Dogra and Pooja.

Thai Boxing Girls U-19 yrs: Below 46 Kg: Rushika Singh of Bharti Public School. Below 48 Kg: Bhawana Salgotra of Vishwa Bharti School Udhaywala. Below 50 Kg: Hersheela Ganjoo of Vishwa Bharti School Udhaywala. Below 60 Kg: Jaspreet Kour of Vishwa Bharti School Udhaywala. Below 65 Kg: Ananya Duggal of DPS Jammu.

The matches were officiated by the panel of experts of Department of Youth Services & Sports.
