2 militants killed in Kupwara encounter: Police

SRINAGAR, Aug 2: Police today said two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces at Khumriyal in Kupwara district.
Soon after the incident the authorities snapped the internet services in the area as a precautionary measure.
Giving details of the incident a police spokesman said security forces today in the afternoon had established a naka in the area. While the checking at the naka point was going on, militants fired on the naka party which was retaliated by the security forces.
In a brief encounter, two militants were killed.
They were identified as Bilal Ahmad Shah, a resident of Shatmuqam and Zahoor Ahmad. They were affiliated with HM.
“Both the militants were involved in several attacks on the security establishments. Besides one AK-47 and one INSAS rifle was recovered back from the militanrs which was yesterday snatched from a policeman in Kandhar area of Kupwara.”
