Those demanding abrogation of Art 370 befooling people: Taj
PULWAMA, Jul 7: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today said those advocating abrogation of Article 370 were actually befooling the people as the same could not be scrapped.

Criticizing the political parties demanding abrogation of Article 370, giving special status to the state, Taj said the said Article could never be scrapped and those claiming the same were actually befooling people to achieve their political goals. He asked the people to remain vigilant of the designs of these vested interest groups whose aim was to ultimately divide people.

“They have nothing to offer you except impede the growth of the state which has undergone a turnaround after the hard efforts of the present government,” he said.

Taj was addressing a public meeting at Chak Badri Nath, Rajpora today.

The minister said the government aimed to develop all regions and areas particularly far flung and remote areas and it fashioned its development initiative in such a manner that the far flung and remote areas could get their due share. He said political executives and senior government functionaries regularly undertook visits to these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the state.

Taj said the present government was working hard to ameliorate the living standards of people particularly those living Below Poverty Line, in far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society. He said many schemes and programmes were in vogue for the purpose.

The minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last five years of present government. He said raising of water usage charges, which constituted one-third of state’s revenue, would give power generation in J&K a big boost. He said similarly in other sectors like education, health, social welfare etc. J&K had seen phenomenal growth and progress.

Taj said the government prepared a comprehensive plan of strengthening sports infrastructure in the state under which every CD block would have a sports complex comprising an indoor stadium and a playfield. He said every Panchayat would have a sports field and all the existing stadia in the state would be provided sports kits and equipment. Besides, he said the coaching of players would be further improved.
