Serial blasts in Bodh Gaya: Security beefed up in Jammu

JAMMU, Jul 7: Following serial blasts in Bodh Gaya temple premises of Lord Buddha in Bihar, the senior police officers Sunday ordered fresh review of the security arrangements in protected and sensitive religious places across city of temples.
According to a local agency report, in view of the ongoing Amarnath yatra the security forces were already on high alert and were exercising extra caution and maintaining a tight vigil on the movement of suspected people. However soon after the news of serial blasts came, the senior state police officers reviewed the security situation and directed the field officers to regularly carry out random checking of vehicles and through frisking of visitors arriving at these places to perform pooja.
Every day the city of temples receives huge rush of Mata Vaishno Devi and Amarnath pilgrims and in view of the intelligence reports the security forces had been tasked to keep a hawk’s eye on the activities of miscreants and suspected people in the crowded areas.
The general public especially pilgrims had also been educated about the security restrictions and the need to remain alert following threats.
In the beginning of the yatra season this year, the senior army officers and even the Union Home Ministry had expressed serious concern following intelligence reports of possible strike on Amarnath yatra by the militant outfits.
