Geelani calls for strike on July 13

SRINAGAR, July 7: Syed Ali Shah Geelani has called for a complete general strike on Martyrs’ Day on July 13.
In a statement, he paid rich tributes to martyrs of July 13, 1931, and said they laid down their lives for sacred cause. “Their mission is still unfinished and the ongoing freedom struggle will be taken to its logical conclusion,” Geelani said.
He appealed the people to observe complete shutdown on July 13 and said that it would serve a symbolic protest against the policy of administration too.
He alleged that pro India politicians are allowed to visit the Martyrs Graveyard and contrary to it restrictions are imposed and pro-freedom leaders detained in their houses.
“We are not being allowed to pay tributes or visit martyrs graveyard and added that keeping in view the situation, Hurriyat Conference would organise a seminar on July 15 at Hyderpora to pay tributes to martyrs,” Geelani said.
