G M Shaheen while addressing the media said, “JD (U) has started this tournament with an aim to boost the spirits of youth who are still deprived of such facilities in Kashmir valley presently as the budding cricketers of Jammu and Kashmir State need to enhance their performance in domestic cricket to be selected for the Indian team. I found that the state has abundance of raw talent, but the players need good experience.”

Citing an example of cricketer Parvez Rasool of Kashmir valley who was selected in the Indian team after his good performance in this field, Shaheen said, “It shows that the players from Jammu and Kashmir are selected but the players need to refine their performance, instead of getting caught in the negativity.”
