PDP, NC eroded Article 370; beware of these political demagogues: Vakil

JAMMU, Jul 8: Former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the Article 370 of the Constitution of India, by virtue of which the state of Jammu and Kashmir enjoys special position in Indian union, is most dear to the people of the state and any attempt to tinker with it is fraught with serious repercussions.
Addressing a party Workers Convention at Sopore, Vakil asked the people to identify those political parties who have, through their successive regimes, enormously weakened this Article 370 to appease their lords. Mr. Vakil said Article 370 preserves the identity and integrity of the people of the state. “Who is responsible for erosion of Article 370? The NC and PDP throughout their successive regimes have reduced it to a hollow shell,” and the last nail in the coffin was hit by Mehbooba Mufti by implementing GST,” Vakil added
While addressing the convention Vakil said Congress should be ashamed of talking about safeguarding the Article 370 as they brought down the offices of Sadr-e-Riyasat and Prime Minister by changing its nomenclature. “Who are they now to claim safeguarding our interests of state,” Vakil added.
All these parties, NC, PDP and Congress should stop shedding crocodile tears and they are responsible for lingering of Kashmir issue, Vakil said these family dynasties can go to any extreme for power, no matter how much they are disrespected and humiliated. He said the “Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek” has started a movement with the sole aim to expose these people corrupt political opportunists who are responsible for eroding this Article and show them the door out of the Kashmir politics.
The Party Convention later passed three resolutions; demanding a High Court Judge commission to inquire the successive erosions of Article 370 by these two families to apprise people so that nobody will dare to exploit sentiments of the Kashmiris. The second resolution passed to probe all the backdoor points both in Omar’s and Mehbooba’s regime and innocent killings by a High Court led commission. They also appealed the Governor to save democracy in J&K by dissolving assembly instead of allowing horse-trading which is a murder of people’s mandate. He said the people of the state are presently caught in a “whirlwind of uncertainty” and despite that they desperately cry for a healing touch to their untold miseries and suffering.
During a daylong Convention Sr. Political Leader from Srinagar Haji Ghulam Hassan Dar Joined Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and merged his party with Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek.
Those who addressed the convention include General Secretary and Ex. MLC Syed Rafiq Shah, Spokesperson, Hakim Parvaiz, Sr. Leader Haji Ghulam Hassann Dar, Youth Secretary and Zonal Head Sopore Rizwan Illahi.
All the leaders in their address appealed governor to dissolve the assembly with immediate effect and probe all the innocent killings. They said if the innocent killing continue like this in Kashmir then restoration of peace will be impossible and will have serious repercussion.
