Wani hails PM’s special package of Rs.710 Cr. for land acquisition

SRINAGAR, July 5: Minister for R&B and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majeed Wani today hailed the decision of Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson, Mrs Sonia Gandhi for granting a special package of Rs 710 crore to the state for land acquisition under PMGSY programme. The announcement for the package was made by the Prime Minister during his recent visit to the State.
Wani has expressed his gratitude to the Central leadership for the gesture, adding that Prime Minister has lost no time in fulfilling the commitment made during his recent visit to the State and sanctioned the grant instantly. He also hailed the efforts of Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad for using his good offices in sanctioning this special package for the State.
The Minister said that with the approval of whooping amount of Rs. 710 crore to J&K would help the State in expeditious completion of various road projects under PMGSY, especially those got held up for want of funds for land acquisition.
It is pertinent to mention here that the payment of package will be a special dispensation for the State to meet the cost of land acquisition covering compensatory afforestation, forest land, trees, private land and structures for completion of PMGSY programme. It was a special offering to the J&K State as there was no provision for paying compensation for acquisition of land to any private and government entities under PMGSY. It was due to the constant efforts of the State Government, especially of Minister for R&B, Abdul Majeed Wani and Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad. The State Government is overwhelmed with the gesture of Centre for sanctioning this special package.
