Crackdown in Hajin

SRINAGAR, Jul 3: A cordon and search operation was launched in multiple localities of Hajin town of Bandipora district today.
Reports said that additional forces were brought in to nab the active militants in the town.
Eyewitnesses said crack down on the pattern of 1990s was launched after a couple of militants emerged on Monday night at a Masjid in Khosa Mohalla. They asked people to be vigilant as according to them Army and combined forces were intending to arrest the youth.
The militants even challenged the forces to arrest them and stop harassing unarmed youth.
Witnesses added that multiple localities of the town were brought under siege during the dead of the night and search operation was launched during wee hours.
"The search operation was launched in Khosa Mohalla, Wahab Khar Mohalla, Parrey Mohalla, Bonkhan Mohalla, Syed Abad, Tawheed Abad and other parts. Men in olive green had been deployed in front of almost every house while drones were used to track down the militants," said a local Irshad Ahmed.
Last time, such an operation on massive scale was launched after the killing of a local security man Mohammad Ramzan Bhat who was allegedly killed by militants after he returned home from outside state.
Reports said that internet service was snapped in the district to block the information.
SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulifkar confirmed that cordon and search operation was launched. He however said no contact with militants was established. “It was a routine search operation,” the district police head told media.
