Dear Editor

Election Commission has made it mandatory for candidates contesting elections to file affidavits regarding their assets and wealth, criminal record and other such aspects which expose to some extent real character of those who wish to be law-makers for their voters. But contents of all such affidavits should be summarized and put outside poll-booths also so that even normal voters having no access to internet may know about candidates before he/she decides to vote.

It is a bitter fact of our political-system that present poll-process suits best for rich and influential, which practically and ordinarily does not allow deserving ones to enter poll-fray. Putting all such details outside poll-booths together with giving voter his/her presently existing right under rule 49(o) for ‘none-to-vote’ on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) without requiring any new legislation, will force political parties to put only good candidates.
