No Uttrakhand like situation will occur in Kashmir: SASB

SRINAGAR, July 4: Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) today dispelled the apprehensions that the arrival of Amarnath Yatris in large numbers would pose Uttrakhand like threat to Kashmir.
Talking to media persons at Raj Bhavan here, chief executive officer, SASB, Navin Choudhry said no Uttrakhand like calamity would occur in Kahsmir Valley as the Amarnath Yatra is being organized on scientific lines and all the concerns relating to environment is being taken care of.
He said SASB is not even allowing ‘Sadhus’ to arrive in Valley without registration. “We have so far sent back at least 15, 000 Yatris who had arrived here without registration. I appeal all these Yatris enter into Valley only the completion of all the formalities,” Navin said, adding that so far 80,000 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Cave.
He asked yatris to follow regulation in their own interest and directed district administration to ensure that no unregistered yatri leaves for pilgrimage to the cave shrine.
