Thousands attend Shujaat’s funeral

SRINAGAR, Jun 15 : Thousands of people from different walks of life today attended the funeral of Syed Shujaat Bukhari, editor Rising Kashmir, at Kreeri in Baramulla.
He was killed along with his two security guards by unidentified gunmen at Press Enclave here last evening. His body was taken to his ancestral house at Kreeri last night and he was laid to rest today.
Thousands of people visited the bereaved family to offer their condolences. They included chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, former chief minister Omar Abdullah, works minister Naeem Akhtar, Prof Saifu Din Soz, G A Mir, and Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami.
Among the separatist camp senior leaders Mohammad Yasin Malik, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat and Zaffar Akbar Bhat attended the funeral of slain journalist.
Large number of media persons, bureaucrats and other people also visited the affected family. They also offered their condolences to Syed Basharat Bukhari, minister and brother of Shujaat, Prof Syed Rafi-ud-Din Bukhari, father of Shujaat and other family members.
