94 bovines rescued, 3 smugglers held in Poonch: police

POONCH, Jun 11: Poonch police claimed to have rescued 94 bovines, arrested three bovine smugglers and seized all the nine vehicles used in the smuggling of these bovines here.
Police said,” A team of police headed by Inspector Anzir Mir, SHO Surankote along with SI Sukhbir Singh incharge Police Post Behramgalla under the supervision of Dy SP Reyaz Choudhary laid down nakas at different places on Mughal road. During the checking, police officials intercepted nine vehicles, including six Tata Mobiles carrying bovines, for checking valid documents. On seeing the nakas, the drivers of the vehicles stopped them (vehicles) at some distance and tried to flee from the spot. The police team chased them but most of them succeeded to flee from the spot.”
However police managed to arrest three drivers from the spot.
They were identified as Imran Khan son of Mohammed Bashir, Zaffar Iqbal son of Mir Hussain resident of Thannamandi and Mohammed Aslam son of Mohammed Aziz resident of Nagrota Palma tehsil Rajouri. The police also set free all the bovines packed in these vehicles.
Six Tata Mobile vehicles bearing registration no JK21C -6484, JK12- 6065, JK11B 9204, JK11B-8216, JK11B-4668, JK12A-0318 and three other vehicles bearing registration no JK03D-1518, JK12-7455 and JK12A-6939 used in the smuggling of bovines were immediately seized by the police.
Police registered FIRs under relevant sections in this context and started investigation.
