4 securitymen, 2 civilians injured in 3 grenade attacks

SRINAGAR, Jun 2: Militants today carried three grenade attacks in Srinagar city. Four security men and two civilians were injured.
The first attack was carried at Fateh Kadal during the day, and the second at Budshah Chowk and the third at police control room (PCR) in the evening.
The attacks were carried when security forces are on an extra high alert following intelligence inputs that militants may carry out a major strike in the city. The attacks were also came at a time whem Ramazan ceasefire is in progress and the centre is considering to extended the suspension of anti militancy operations beyond Ramazan in view of the forth coming Amarnath Yatra.
Reports said militants hurled a grenade at CRPF personnel at Fateh Kadal area leaving three forces personnel and a civilian injured.
The grenade was lobbed at CRPF’s 82 battalion deployed for law and order duties in the area.
Police spokesperson said the injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment.
All the injured have received minor injuries and are stated to be stable.
A paramilitary trooper was injured in a grenade blast Budshah bridge near Maisuma .A police officer the suspected militants hurled a grenade on CRPF vehicle at Budshah bridge.
In the blast a paramilitary CRPF trooper sustained splinter injuries. A pedestrian is also said to have received injuries in the incident.
Militants hurled a grenade at IRP 6th Battalion securing the premises of police control room Batamaloo at its rare side.
A police official said the grenade exploded with a bang outside the picket, adding no one was injured in the attack.
