Dear Editor,
Water scarcity is a big problem in many places, especially when it comes to fresh, clean drinking water. There are very serious effects of drinking contaminated water and unfortunately many people in the world are faced with these problems every day.
Drinking contaminated water can cause horrible side effects such as nausea, vomiting, cramps, and diarrhea. Contaminated water can cause diseases too, such as legionnaires, campylobacter, and salmonella. Many people in the world don’t have access to fresh water, so they have no choice but to drink this contaminated water. This lack of access to fresh water is sometimes called water scarcity.
Water scarcity is a major problem in many regions around the word. Water scarcity already affects every continent. “Nearly 3.4 million people die each year from water scarcity and water contamination”. When people live in places where there is water scarcity, they are unable to access clean water to drink, so water scarcity contributes to the problem of water contamination.
Water scarcity happens all around the world, to fix this problem we can use less water. Did you know that agriculture is the biggest water user.
Many people don’t have access to clean water, and many don’t even have access to water at all. It is important for people to know about these problems so they know what is happening around in the world and so that we can be aware of how important the resource of water is. Since we are in a drought right now, we might want to think more about how to save and conserve clean water that we actually have. We are lucky to have it in the first place.
