J&K Pencak Silat team wins runners up trophy in Nationals

JAMMU, May 9: The J&K Pencak Silat team of Pre Teen, Sub Junior and Junior Boys and girls were the overall runners up in the Sub Junior and Juniors National Pencak Silat Championship 2018 which was scheduled to be held at Indoor sports complex, Guwahati Assam from May 3 to 6.
22 State across the country were participated in this mega event.
On the opening ceremony of the Championship, Dr Kirit P Solanki, Member of the Parliament and Chairman, Parliamentary Committee for SC & ST Commission were the chief Guest on the occasion.
Assam were the overall Champions by winning of 22 Gold, 20 Silver and 16 Bronze medals while as Jammu and Kashmir team got 17 Gold , 14 Silver and 26 Bronze medals and Manipur were stood on 2nd runners up by winning 14 Gold , 5 Silver and 6 Bronze medals .
The Gold and silver medallist of the Junior teams were shortlisted for the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2019 which is scheduled to be held at Jakarta- Indonesia.
The Championship was organised by Assam Pencak Silat Association under the aegis of Indian Pencak Silat Federation and under the banner of Ministry of youth affairs and sports Government of India, Sports authority of India and Sports Authority of Assam.
On the closing Ceremony of the Championship, MLA Guwahati was the Chief Guest and distribute the medals among the winners.
Mufti Hamid Yasin Secretary General of Indian Pencak Silat Federation, Irfan Aziz Treasurer and other officials of the federation and officials from the sports directorate of Assam Sports Authority were witness the said championship.
