Karnataka Assembly elections 2018: BJP announces second list of candidates for 82 constituencies

KARNATAKA, Apr 16 (Agencies):b The BJP has announced its second list of candidates for the Karnataka Assembly elections 2018. The second list contains the names of candidates for 82 constituencies. With this, the party has now named its candidates for 154 of the 224 seats in the Karnataka Assembly.

The party had released its first list of candidates, containing 72 names, on April 9. It now has to finalise its ticket distribution for 7 more seats.

Karnataka goes to the polls in a single phase on May 12, with the counting of votes scheduled for May 15.

Militants open fire in Shopian, SPO, civilian injured
ANANTNAG, Apr 16: A special police officer (SPO) and a civilian were injured after the suspected militants opened fire in Bongam area of southern Shopian town on Monday. Official and local sources said that the militants opened fire on an SPO while he was riding on a two wheeler at around 4:30 pm.
