Dir says can’t brief media about the issue

BANDIPORA, Feb 15: Dozens of Anganwadi workers on Thursday staged protest in the premises of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office Bandipora against ‘changing of Circular of seniority list and promoting the fake degree holders’.
The workers chanted slogans against the department and demanded immediate action against what they termed as ‘fraudulence’ in the department.
The protesters alleged that the three names in the seniority list prepared by the officials are of those candidates who have fake certificates but the officials didn’t bother to look into it.
“Some workers have been kept in the tentative seniority list without checking their documents,” they alleged.
Workers during the protest informed that all the three candidates were never enlisted in graduate list of Anganwadi workers at block level as well as at the district level.
Workers also threatened that to suspend other additional duties in case their demands won’t be fulfilled. “We will neither go to any election nor Pulse polio duty until the department will not fulfill our demands,” they said.
They alleged that officials without going through the documents of the candidates forwarded the list to the higher authorities, which is unfortunate.
Workers alleged that Anganwadi workers have produced bachelor’s certificate, showing they are pass out of Meerut University.
The Workers said that the documents of all the candidates must be checked thoroughly and the deserving aspirants should be included.
The Graduate candidates who joined department 13 years ago are not in the final promotion list, but irony is that the aspirants who have enlisted have joined the department merely three years ago.
“I have also filed RTI three years back but till now department didn’t provide me any sort of information,” one among the Anganwadi workers from Sumbal block said.
Workers alleged the involvement of some employees of social welfare department in the issue, who according to them issued another kind of list in which they enlisted blue-eyed workers and their relatives.
They said that in this regard they approached to the Commissioner Secretary, Director, DPO, CDPO, but all in vain as nobody listened to their plea. “We demand the authorities to prepare the list as per the seniority,” they said.
Earlier, at least 11 Anganwadi workers were promoted by Social Welfare department. Out of 11, Six are Graduated while the five are 10th pass.
District Social Welfare Officer remained tightlipped over the issue, saying that he has no authority to utter anything in this regard.
However, Director as per the KNS correspondent said that he can’t brief media about the issue, saying “A government official can’t brief the media about these issues.”
