Woman murdered at Katra

KATRA, Sep 15: A woman was allegedly murdered by her nephew at her residence in Bhagta under the jurisdiction of Police Station Katra in Reasi district, today.
Police said that a woman identified as Pushpa Devi, 50, wife of Dewan Chand of Bhagta was murdered by her nephew Sham Lal, 22, son of Tirath Ram. The accused beheaded his aunt (Tai) with a sword following a tiff at 12.30 PM, this afternoon.
The accused fled from the spot leaving her aunt in pool of blood. Her neighbours noticed the body lying in the house and they informed Police Station Katra.
Getting information of murder, police rushed to the spot. The cops shifted body to Community Health Center (CHC) Katra where after autopsy it was handed over to the family members for last rites.
Police said that accused was orphaned in tender age. He was brought up by his aunt (deceased).
Exact reason behind the murder was not yet ascertained.
The accused was still at large when reports last came in. Police claimed to have launched a hunt to nab him.
Police has registered a case FIR number 123 of 2012 under section 302 RPC and 4/25 Arms Act against the accused.
