J&K boys register three straight wins, girls beat Maharashtra

JAMMU, Feb 9: In a pulsating best of three games, Jammu and Kashmir boys team edged Jharkhand 25-18, 25-12, 25-21 in second match of the 40th Sub-Junior National Volleyball Championship for (boys & girls) at Chirava in Rajasthan, on Friday.
In the third match, the experience of Mujeed Pushvinder, Shabir, Imtaiz and Himanshu finally found the way for J&K team to defeat Telangana by 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 25-19) sets.
Earlier, in first match, Jammu and Kashmir boys team forced Chhattisgarh into submission by 25-18, 25-18, 25-20 margin in three sets.
Boys team will play next games against Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, for the qualification to quarterfinals.
“Both teams played good volleyball till the end, but we kept our concentration better than opponent,” said Mohd Tariq Khan, Coach of J&K boys team and added, “Our service game was effective and also receiving was better than opponent.”
Meanwhile, in girls section, after losing first game against Kerala, J&K kept their concentration better and outplayed Maharashtra in second game by 3-2 (26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 17-25, 15-13) sets. Champa Devi, Ayushi, Muskaan and Monika of J&K played excellent game to achieve first win in the tournament. Now, in their next outings, J&K girls shall meet Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar in Pool-D.
The teams are accompanied by Mohd Tariq and Aashiq Hussain as coaches and Ab Ahad Shah and Richa Bali as Managers of boys and girls respectively.
Patron-in-Chief Volleyball Association of J&K, Raj Daluja, President, Sidharth Daluja and other office bearers while sending good wishes to J&K team, Manager and Coach for brilliant performance in matches wished best of luck for future games.
