Rs 436.11 Cr relief paid to 8851 refugees: Mustafa

2699 cases pending with MHA; 847 new cases received

JAMMU, Feb 9: Minister Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction and Floriculture Javaid Mustafa Mir today informed the Legislative Assembly that government so far “paid Rs 436.11 Cr to 8851 displaced families of Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK).”
Responding to a calling attention notice of BJP MLA Sat Paul Sharma, the minister said though till January 31, 2018, no case was pending with the Relief and Rehabilitation Department however 847 new cases were received by the department on February 4 2018 and these would be uploaded and approved within a week’s time.
The Minister further informed that 2699 cases were pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs as on January 31, 2017.
He said the department was processing these cases on top priority and the details were shared with the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, the Nodal Officer for the scheme- for hosting the same on his official website for the information of general public and beneficiaries.
He also informed the house that department recently shared all the details of the beneficiaries both in hard and soft copies with the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu for the information of the general public and the beneficiaries also.
Responding to demands of MLA to expedite pending cases of around 24,000 more families in a time bound manner, besides settling the issues of ration cards for Chhamb refugees of 1965 and also awarding compensation to 5300 families settled in Delhi and Pathankot, the Minister assured to do the needful.
“I am trying to expedite the cases in a time bound manner. The government has no objection to provide a soft copy of details of settled cases. I’ll also look into the problem of Chham refugees,” he said and assured to examine cases of refugees settled in Delhi and Pathankot as well.
