Non-commercial LMVs exempted from Toll

JAMMU, Feb 6: In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10 of the Jammu and Kashmir Passengers Taxation Act, 1963, the Government has exempted from payment of Passenger tax leviable under the said Act.
As per the SRO 69 issued by the Finance Department, all the past arrears of the passenger tax of the commercial vehicles in the state upto 31st December, 2017 are exempted.
Meanwhile as a follow up to the budget announcement, the government has notified that Toll Posts established in Kashmir division at Lower Munda in District Anantnag and Borehallan Heerpur in District Shopian have been abolished February 06, 2018.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of the Jammu & Kashmir Levy of Tolls Act Samvat 1995 (Act No: VIII of 1995), the Government of Jammu and Kashmir hereby directs that the Toll Posts established at Lower Munda in district Anantnag and Borehallan Heerpur in district Shopian under the provisions of the said Act, shall cease to operate from of February 6th, 2018," said SRO issued by the Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary.
The government has also exempted the Non-Commercial Light Motor Vehicles entering and leaving the State from payment of Basic Toll. The Finance Department has issued SRO 67 in this regard. As per the notification, the government in exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 of the Levy of Toll Act, Samvat 1995 (Act No. VIII of 1995), directs that all Non-Commercial Light Motor Vehicles entering and leaving the State shall be exempted from payment of Basic Toll leviable under the said act. The notification shall come in force w.e.f. February 6, 2018.
