Maharaja Hari Singh holiday row; BJP lawmaker walks out from LC
JAMMU, Jan 3: Scion of Maharaja Hari Singh and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLC Ajat Shatru Singh today walked out from the Upper House on the commencing of Question Hours while raising the issue over the announcement of gazetted holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh which was unanimously adopted by the House last year.

However, MLC Ajat Shatru Singh was supported by other BJP MLCs who were standing and voiced in same breathe in reminding the House pertaining to the issue which was overlooked by the Legislative Council Chairman Haji Anayat Ali.

Though, the issue had already been contradiction between PDP-BJP since the demand was raised by both Scions of Maharaja Hari Singh in Upper House as one of them (PDP MLC) Vikramaditya Singh had already resigned due to his anguish over the BJP-PDP combine for purportedly ignoring the announcement of most coveted holidays which could cost heavily for the BJP especially with respect to the most emotive issues persistently raised by the Jammu people.

BJP MLC Ajat Shatru Singh while apprising the House said, “Maharaja’s birthday was denied despite the resolution adopted by the Legislative Council last year, whose huge contributions gave the biggest gratifying opportunity to the millions of nationalist people of the state to call themselves as proud Indians.”

He further reminded that house that why government is delaying in declare Maharaja’s birthday but the issue was overlooked in the Upper House due to protest demonstration of Opposition MLCs of National Conference and Congress over Human Right violations and civilian killing in Kashmir valley.

Later, Ajat Shatru Singh alone walked out from the House without the support of other BJP MLCs who extended their full support to Lawmaker in the Upper House while raising the issue of delaying in declaring Maharaja’s birthday as gazetted holiday.
